Staff members of Eidsness Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique. Our team of funeral directors and support staff strive to surpass each family's wishes and expectations when honoring the life of a loved one.

Logan Brandriet
Manager/Funeral Director/Employee Owner
Logan Brandriet joined Eidsness Funeral Home on January 1, 2025. A native of Arlington, Logan graduated from Arlington High School in 2017. He continued his education at South Dakota State University before completing the Mortuary Science Program at Des Moines Area Community College, graduating in the spring of 2022. Logan became a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in June 2022.
Logan is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing and hunting in his free time. He is engaged to Delanie Tangen of the rural Bruce area, and together they are members of GracePoint Wesleyan Church in Brookings. Logan’s faith is an important part of his life and plays a meaningful role in his work, guiding him to serve families with compassion, dignity, and respect during their time of need.

Logan Brandriet

Logan Brandriet joined Eidsness Funeral Home on January 1, 2025. A native of Arlington, Logan graduated from Arlington High School in 2017. Cole Wingen
Funeral Director / Employee Owner
Cole Wingen was born and raised in Sioux Falls. He graduated from Washington High School in 2001. He then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2002 to 2006. During this time, he served two tours of duty in Iraq with 1st Battalion 4th Marines. Upon his discharge from the Marines, he began working in private security while attending Irvine Valley College in Irvine, CA.
Cole is a second-generation funeral director. In 2009 he began working with his father, Tim, at Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. It was during this time that he began pre-mortuary studies at South Dakota State University. From September 2012 to 2013 he attended and is a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, IL. While attending Worsham College, he worked for Smith-Corcoran Funeral Homes in Chicago. Upon graduation from mortuary school, he returned to Miller Funeral Home and served his funeral director’s apprenticeship. Upon completing his apprenticeship, Cole became a licensed funeral director and worked at George Boom Funeral Home from 2014 to 2016. In March of 2016, he focused his practice in professional care services in the company care center. During this time, he attended Fountain National Academy for advanced embalming techniques focusing on postmortem reconstructive surgery. Also, during this time he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science and Funeral Service at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Upon graduation, he enrolled into graduate school at Southern Illinois University receiving his master’s degree in healthcare administration graduating in December of 2022.
Cole and his wife Jessica (McCart) Wingen married in 2020. Jessica works for the South Dakota Department of Corrections. They enjoy traveling, kayaking, and hiking with their dogs. They are also involved with the Special Olympics of South Dakota and Jessica is a representative for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. The Wingens welcomed their first child, Jackson in 2022.
Cole and his family live in Flandreau and will assist at Eidsness Funeral Home when needed.

Cole Wingen

Mitch Steinhoff
Funeral Director / Employee Owner / CEO
Mitch started in funeral service at the age of seventeen with Gramm Funeral Home of Ipswich, SD. He attended South Dakota State University for two years, studying pre-mortuary science. While in Brookings, Mitch was employed by Eidsness Funeral Home. He then transferred to the University of Minnesota. Mitch graduated in December of 2008, with a Bachelor’s Degree; majoring in Mortuary Science.
Mitch worked for Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls until 2012. At which time, he moved to Brookings to begin working with Eidsness Funeral Home. He became a partner in the firm in 2015. In 2026, Mitch became the CEO of our employee-owned funeral homes. He will continue to help on funerals as often as possible.
Mitch is married to Ashley Steinhoff. They have three daughters: Addison, Bailey, and Chloe. Mitch and Ashley are members of St. Thomas More Catholic Parish.
Mitch is a licensed funeral director in South Dakota and Minnesota.

Angie Thayer
Office Manager / Arranger
Angie joined the Eidsness team in November of 2024. She grew up in Madison, SD before attending the University of Minnesota and earning a bachelor’s degree in political science. Since then she’s gained professional experience in business and human resources.
Angie has been a resident of Brookings for 13 years. She enjoys reading, gardening, time outdoors and, most especially, time with her family. She’s a foster parent and passionate about helping children and families in need. Angie is a member at Bethel Baptist church and volunteers with their children’s ministry.

Jeff joined Eidsness Funeral Home in 2022. Jeff grew up in Parkston before attending South Dakota State University earing a bachelor's degree in Economics with a Business Specialization. Prior to joining Eidsness Funeral Home, Jeff worked at First Bank and Trust for 10 years.
Jeff is married to Trisha Morehouse. They moved to Brookings in 2010. Trisha is an Optometrist at Brookings Vision Center. They have three children, Emmett, Ella, and Evan. They are avid Jackrabbit fans. Jeff is a member of the Brookings Lion Club.
Jeff operates our burial vault division along with being our monument representative.

Peg Jordan
Funeral Assistant
Peg joined the Eidsness team in May of 2018. As a funeral assistant, she supports the funeral directors in serving families, striving to make each family's interaction with Eidsness Funeral Home as pleasant as possible.
Peg has always had a passion for serving others, whether in retail, food service, or assisting the elderly. That passion will serve her well in this position.
In her free time, Peg enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends. Peg is a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, where she volunteers with the MOPS program, and is part of a prayer ministry team.

Roger Simmons

Roger joined the staff of Eidsness Funeral Home in December of 2016, as a funeral assistant after retiring as the manager of Karls TV in August of 2016. Roger is a life-long resident of Brookings county. He grew up in the White area, and after high school he spent 4 years in the Air Force. Upon his discharge, Roger farmed near White for nearly 18 years. In 1986 he went to work for the Aberdeen American News as an advertising salesman. After covering northeastern South Dakota for 13 years, he retired from the road and sold appliances for Karls for 12 years and Lowes for 5 years.
Roger and his late wife, Dorothy, have called Brookings home since 1986. They have 4 children, 5 granddaughters, and a great-grandson. Roger is a member of the American Legion, and they attend Holy Life Tabernacle in Brookings.

Randy Richards

Randy was born and raised on the family farm that was homesteaded by his Great-Grandparents in 1885 south of Ipswich, South Dakota. He graduated from Ipswich High School and from Northern State University. He and his niece still own the family farm, which he manages.
Randy worked from 31 plus years for USDA/ASCS/FSA as a County Executive Director in Clark and Beadle Counties in South Dakota.
He is also a seasonal employee of DuPont Pioneer Research Center in Volga.
Randy has two married daughters and two grandsons.
He is an active member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings, where he serves as a reader/lector, and is on the Church Hospitality Committee.
