Jo Ann Satterlee was born on March 31st 1939 to Joe and Margaret Laughrey in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jo attended Brookings High School and went on to graduate with her Bachelor's and Registered Nursing Degree from South Dakota State University. It was there that she met and fell in love with her husband Jim in 1957. Shortly after, she and Jim were married at the Brookings Presbyterian Church in 1961. After getting her RN degree, Jo then went on to work at Brookings Hospital as a Nurse Supervisor. Jo later decided to continue her education and graduated as a Nurse Practitioner from the University of Minnesota specializing in OB-GYN.

She enjoyed her work but also her role as a mother of three boys David, Tim, and Steve. Jo spent her free time knitting for her grandkids and great grandkids in her craft room, watching TV in the sun room overlooking the lake in the early mornings, working in her garden, boating with Jim on the lake, or in the kitchen baking the best banana chocolate chip bread in Brookings. She loved to travel with her family in the summers when the boys were young, and in her later years she and Jim enjoyed traveling in their RV to see her son David & family in CA, and spending the winter months in Apache Junction AZ with their long time friends. She was actively involved in the Retired Nurses Association and the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) in Brookings.

Jo is survived by her husband Jim, her younger brother Bruce, her three sons David, Steve, and Tim, her niece Alexis, her eight grandchildren Dustin, Jake, Bambi, Savannah, Gabby, Noah, Abby, and Sierra, and her six great-grandchildren Morgan, Oliver, Korbyn, Kingsley, Torren, and Aspen.

Jo passed away peacefully on August 15th, 2022, after spending the morning with her loved ones by her side. She deeply loved her family and friends, and will be dearly missed by all. It is a great comfort that Jo is fully restored and watching over her loved ones in Heaven.

The family would like to extend their thanks to all of Jo's caretakers during her time at The Neighborhoods at Brookview Manor, and to all who visited her and sent their love with cards. The family is especially thankful for those who are traveling to be with the family and celebrate Jo's life on Monday, August 22nd at Eidsness Funeral Home at 2pm.
