William "Bill" Phillips, age 76 of Brookings, died on Monday, April 21, 2014, at the White Healthcare Center in White, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at St. Thomas More Parish in Brookings. Visitations will be from 5-7 P.M. on Friday with a Liturgical Wake Service beginning at 6:30 P.M. at Eidsness Funeral Home. William George Phillips was born on August 29, 1937 in Kansas to George and Mildred (Dunn) Phillips. Bill's family later moved to Brookings where his father was a professor at SDSU. He graduated from High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree. Bill faithfully served his country as a Marine. In 1963, Bill moved to Florida where he lived for much of his adult life. He owned and operated a few different business and most recently a tire store. When Bill was diagnosed with cancer, he decided he wanted to move back to Brookings to be close to friends. He moved back to South Dakota in 2012 and joined St. Thomas More Parish. In February of 2014, Bill moved to the White Healthcare Center in White where he resided until the time of his death. Bill is survived by his significant other and care giver, Darlene Fellon of Brookings; son, Jimmy (Beka) Phillips of Florida; grandchildren, Taylor and Preslay Phillips and one brother, Jim (Katy) Phillips of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
