Wilbur Schwartz, age 89, died Saturday, December 20, 2014, on the farm near Bruce, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Volga, with interment and military rites at Trinity Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-6 P.M. Friday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. Wilbur A. Schwartz was born August 5, 1925, at Volga, South Dakota, to Frederick and Lillian (Krumm) Schwartz. He attended Oakwood No. 51 country school and graduated from Volga High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1952, during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the Army he returned to the Bruce area to continue farming until his retirement in 2000. Wilbur was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and Burrows-Young American Legion Post No. 114 in Volga. He served on the Oakwood Township Board for 48 years. Survivors include his brother, Kenneth Schwartz, of Bruce; a niece, Gail (Tim) Bunker, of Arlington; and a great-niece, Nicole Bunker. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arnold.
