Wendell L. Telkamp, age 51, died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at his home near Brookings, South Dakota. Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses at Brookings.
Wendell Lee Telkamp was born January 5, 1958, at Brookings, South Dakota, to Edward and Constance (Herbert) Telkamp. He grew up on a farm on the east edge of Brookings. He started school at the Trail School east of Brookings until it closed. He finished his education in Brookings, where he graduated from high school. After graduation he began farming with his father. In 1970 he was baptized as one of Jehovahs Witnesses. Wendell liked to go fishing and enjoyed having coffee with his friends.
Survivors include his parents, Edward and Constance Telkamp, of Brookings; four brothers and three sisters: Rebecca (Tony) Periera of Melvern, Arkansas, Joel (Debbie) Telkamp of Brookings, Bruce Telkamp of Miller, South Dakota, Deborah (Wayne) Buffington of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Brian (Stephanie) Telkamp of Estacada, California, Julie (Kevin) Loving of Galveston, Texas, and Curtis Telkamp of Miller, South Dakota.
