Obituary

**The service for Wayne Wolforth will be uploaded shortly and will be available in a player window following the obituary text**

Wayne Wolforth, surrounded by his family, passed away at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls on February 24, 2023, following a heart attack the previous day at his "Wolf Den" in Brookings, SD.  But never let it be said that there was something wrong with Wayne Wolforth's heart.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings at 2:00 P.M..  Family and friends are invited to celebrate Wayne's life during a time of fellowship following the service.  Visitation will be held two hours prior to service, beginning at 12:00 P.M..

His was a happy heart, made joyful by the many special interests of his life – fishing for perch on area lakes, hunting pheasants in Potter County, tinkering on a motor in his garage, creating his patented inventions, and flipping magically-shaped pancakes for the grandkids

Wayne had a generous heart, using his knowledge and expertise to be the "helping hand"  that relatives and friends turned to for projects big and small – whether programming a new remote control device, helping to build a new deck,  or serving up delicious fish fry for friends after a pickle ball game.

But mostly, Wayne had a loving heart that was made whole by Deb, his wife of nearly 47 years; by their two children – Travis and Lindsay; and by their five grandchildren – Piper, Clover, Honor, Nora and Jack.

Wayne Paul Wolforth (67) was born on December 8, 1955, to Alvin and Marvel (Martin) Wolforth of rural Sully County.  He grew up, the sixth of 7 children, on the family farm north of Cottonwood Lake; graduated from Agar High School; was educated as a machinist at Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown; and, from 1976 to his retirement in 2019, enjoyed a long career with the 3M Company in Brookings.  He married Debbie Moore in Gettysburg, SD, on July 31, 1976. He is survived by his wife, Deb, of Brookings; their son Travis (Jen) of Mantorville, MN; their daughter Lindsay (Matt) Naughton of Brookings; their five grandchildren Piper, Clover and Honor Naughton and Nora and Jack Wolforth.  Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Jack.  He is survived by his siblings:  Linda (Jerry) Goebel, Sharla (Brad) Sorenson, Gloria Goebel, Terry Wolforth, and Ronda (Jason) Thomas.

Wayne Wolforth and his good heart will be remembered and cherished by all those who knew and loved him.

Although floral arrangements are appreciated, Wayne's family suggests that memorial donations be made to the family in order to donate to Wayne's favorite causes.
