Wayne E. Perry, age 76, formerly of Brookings, died Sunday, December 17, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downer's Grove, Illinois. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 22, 2006, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will precede services at the church beginning at 9:30 A.M. Friday. Wayne E. Perry was born August 6, 1930, at Bruce, South Dakota, to Earl. H. and Lorraine E. (Eichel) Perry. He married Beverly A. Hendricks of Brookings on May 15, 1953. He graduated from South Dakota State University in 1954. In 1959 they moved to Chicago and Wayne worked for the Wall Street Journal for eleven years. He then went to work for the Chicago Tribune for 13 years and the Alco Gravure for four years. He purchased the Enterprise newspaper in 1985. Survivors include his wife, Beverly, of Downers Grove, Illinois; his three children: Steven Perry of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Lynn Perry (Darlene Szablewski) of Rockford, Illinois, and Lisa (Andy) Schuster of Black Creek, Wisconsin; four brothers: Murvin (Rita) Perry of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Loran (Carol) Perry, Robert (Lola) Perry, and Ronald (Margaret) Perry, all of Brookings, South Dakota; a sister-in-law, Maxine Lakeman, of Brookings; brother-in-law, Larry (Barbara) Hendricks, of The Villages, Florida; grandchildren: Danielle, Michael, Matthew, Stephanie, and Rachel Perry; step-grandchildren: Kayla and Tara Schuster; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bonnie and Donna Perry, and Doris (Marvin) Stroschein; and brothers, Lyle (Peggy) and Dale (Thelma) Perry.
