Wayne Buus, age 81, of Brookings, passed away Friday, November 08, 2019, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Brookings. Visitations will be 5-7 P.M. Monday, November 11, 2019, at Eidsness Funeral Home.  Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Wayne Anneus Buus was born on October 12, 1938, to Anneus and Olive (Kuca) Buus in Tea, South Dakota. Wayne grew up attending school in Tea, and later graduating from Harrisburg High School in 1956.  Wayne enjoyed playing basketball and participating in track during his time in school.

After high school, Wayne farmed with his father, also working at South Dakota State University, and Twin City Fan.

Wayne was a member of the Air National Guard, and always wanted to work for the Teamsters, promoting the interests of the working man. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Men.

Wayne enjoyed helping others, and was always available whenever or wherever a friend needed help. He loved music, and took a special interest in conversations that took place around election time.  Wayne was a member of the Lennox Community Band, and greatly enjoyed serving the community.  Wayne also enjoyed watching his beloved Green Bay Packers, and especially loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Survivors include Wayne's wife, Lois; children: Chris (Trish) Buus, Brenda Buus, Sara (Mike) Amundson, and Greg Buus; grandchildren: Nate, Taira, Brianna and Brandon; brothers-in-law, Dale Schaff and Richard (Deb) Allen; sister-in-law, Janice (Kent) Johnson, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Donna Schaff, and his niece, Debbie Schaff.
