Wanda Weise, age 76, of Brookings, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will precede services at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family: 47639 192nd Street, Brandt, SD 57218. Eidsness Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Wanda Ann Weise (Hiniker) was born March 6, 1939, at Waseca, Minnesota, to Richard and Elvira Sack (Fetchenhier). She graduated from high school in Janesville MN. She later married Raymond Hiniker on February 2, 1959, at Mankato, MN. Together, they owned and operated Hiniker Lumber Company until Ray passed away in 1974. On January 20, 1977, she married Charles Weise at Spirit Lake, Iowa. In 1978 the family moved to South Dakota and lived in a few different towns until Wanda retired from the nursing home in Lake Preston. They then moved to Brookings. Wanda was an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She enjoyed helping with the Brookings Arts Festival and also spending time collecting small antique figurines. She had a passion for flowers, gardening, and spending time with friends and family. Survivors include her children: Jeff Hiniker, Terry (Rita) Hiniker, Rich (Stacy) Weise, Jodie (Phil) Svennes, and Dan (Jonda) Weise; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles Weise.
