Verna Albright, age 77, of Volga, died Saturday, December 27, 2003, at Kingsbury Memorial Manor in Lake Preston, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at First Lutheran Church in Volga, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. Verna Elizabeth (Strande) Albright was born February 3, 1926, at Volga, South Dakota, to Martin and Clara (Larson) Strande. She graduated from Volga High School in 1943. On October 7, 1944, she married George Albright in Brookings, South Dakota. Verna worked in the Brookings County Treasurers office, the Volga Co-op office, the Volga Post Office, and Lyles Grocery just before she retired. Verna was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church in Volga, where she attended faithfully and belonged to Circle. She and George belonged to the Circle and Swing Square Dance Club for many years. She also enjoyed sewing, baking, walking, traveling, attending basketball games at Sioux Valley, and spending time with her kids and grandkids, for whom she baked her special angel food cake for their birthdays. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, George Albright, of Volga; two daughters: Becky (Lloyd) Holter of Volga and Tamara Knolley of Volga; four grandchildren: Timothy Holter, Lee (fiance Janelle) Holter, Brooks Knolley, and Bridget Gifford; and two great-grandchildren, Teagan and Tatiana Holter. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and three brothers.
