Verlaine M. (West) Duin died Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Wild Flower Lodge in Maple Grove, MN. Burial will be in the Elkton cemetery and a family prayer service will be held at a later date, according to Verlaine's wishes. Verlaine was born May 16, 1924, at Estelline, SD, to Frank and Gertrude West. Verlaine married Fred H. Duin on March 23, 1944, at Estelline. She was a farm wife, later Fred and Verlaine owned and operated the Diamond Lunch in Elkton. She also did many many years of child care. She later lived in an apartment in Watertown, SD, and rode the bus to Watertown Elementary School and was a school assistant Grandmother that helped the children and teachers with whatever was needed. Verlaine is survived by six children, Sandra McAdams, Marilyn Hurney, Darlene Reinke, Sharon Harrison, Douglas Duin, and Tammi Anderson, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
