Velma V. Albrecht, age 85, of Brookings, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the United Retirement Center in Brookings, South Dakota. Committal Services and Interment will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, South Dakota. Velma Viola Albrecht was born June 8, 1921, in McPherson County, South Dakota, to Adam and Barbara (Eisenmenn) Muhlbeier. She died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the United Retirement Center in Brookings, South Dakota. Velma spent her childhood years on the family farm in McPherson County. In May, 1946, she married Milbert C. Albrecht. They raised four sons and two daughters, moving to Lead in 1956. Velma and Milbert were married for 42 years until his death. She entered Park Place Assisted Living, Brookings, in 2003, later moving to the United Retirement Center. Velma was a great homemaker, cook and quite a seamstress. Kuchen, plagenta, nifla and dumplings were a few of her special German dishes. She enjoyed bowling for many years and was a member of the V.F.W. Womens Auxiliary. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always held a special place in her heart. Survivors include five children: Russell (wife Connie) Albrecht, of Spearfish, South Dakota, Jane (Jose) Albrecht, of Portland, Oregon, Jeff (wife Cecilia) Albrecht, of Brookings, Bill (wife Elaine) Albrecht, of Worland, Wyoming, and Kathy (husband Roger) Jensen, of Rapid City, South Dakota; one daughter-in-law: Rhonda (Mrs. Dale) Albrecht, of Sturgis, South Dakota; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister: Elsie Olson, of Fountain Hills, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milbert; son, Dale Albrecht; two sisters; and one brother.
