Velda Mae Stanek (Kruse) age 74, of Springfield, MO, and formerly of Brookings, SD, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021, in Springfield. Graveside services will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in Brookings on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 11:00 A. M. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials are preferred to Camp Eagle Rock Royal Rangers:  1445 Booneville Ave.  Springfield, MO 65802.

Velda was born March 9, 1946, to Emil and Wilma (Baker) Hanson in Brookings SD. She graduated from Brookings High School in 1964. On May 16, 1964, she was united in marriage to Merwyne Kruse. Velda owned and operated Kreative Krafts in Brookings. She also worked for Dairy Queen. Merwyne passed away in May of 2009. Velda married Paul Stanek on July 15, 2012.

Velda was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Brookings as well as Life360 Church in Springfield, MO. She enjoyed baking cakes, crafts, camping, and being part of the RV Ministry.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Stanek; daughters, Tammy (Doug) Butterworth of Springfield, MO, and Darla (Greg) Landmark of Inver Grove Heights, MN; five grandchildren: Brittany and Ethan Butterworth, and Hannah, Ryan, and Charlotte Landmark. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Merwyne; her parents, Emil and Wilma; and her sister and brother-in-law, Garnet (Chuck) Hildebrandt.
