Ursel E. Seidl, age 85, of Brookings, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at the United Living Community in Brookings. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brookings, with visitations beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Ursel Ergeen Seidl was born June 25, 1930, at Fairfax, Minnesota, the only child of Herbert and Hilda (Bleick) Seidl. He was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairfax. He attended high school and college at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, graduating in 1948 and 1951.
Ursel taught in the upper grades and was choir director and organist at five different Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod congregations for 41 years. On August 6, 1955, he married Barbara B. Braaz at Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Survivors include Barbara, his wife of 60 years; his daughter-in-law, Risë Seidl, of Volga; two daughters: Beverly (Lew) Rabenberg of Austin, Texas, and Ellen (Steve) Teter of Arapahoe, Nebraska; a son, Thomas (Becki) Seidl, of Elizabeth, Colorado; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son John on July 28, 2014.
