Terry Edward Smith, age 76, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Brookings, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.  A time of visitation will be held on November 11, 2021, from 4-6 P.M. at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.  Burial will be at a later date at the State Veteran's Cemetery in Sioux Falls.

Terry was born on April 21, 1945, to Eldred and Caroline (Spangler) Smith in Flandreau, SD.  He moved with his family to Oregon when was about four years old, where he lived until he was about 14 years old.  The family returned to South Dakota where they made their home on a farm near Elkton.  Terry graduated from Elkton High School and went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Navy for four years.  Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Terry went to SDSU to major in Landscape Design.

Terry built his home at lake Campbell and worked for Larson Manufacturing in Brookings until his retirement in 2009. He continued to live in his Lake Campbell home until he relocated to Sioux Falls in 2019, because of health reasons.

Survivors include his siblings, Doug (Tracey) Smith of Lake Campbell, Steve (Georgie) Smith of Sioux Falls, and Sylvia (Greg) Alberts of Flandreau; sister-in-law, Val Smith of Flandreau; his nieces and nephews: Scott Smith, Tony Alberts, Ryan (Laurie) Smith, Stephanie (Bruce) Slaba, and Alexandra Smith.  He was preceded in death by his brother Ron, as well as his parents and grandparents.
