Talus S. Leemhuis, age 21, of Brookings, died Friday, July 1, 2005, near Brookings, South Dakota. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Brookings, with interment at St. Thomas More Catholic Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-7 P.M. with a wake service at 7 P.M. Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Talus Steve Leemhuis was born August 31, 1983, at Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Stephen H. and Jolene M. (Wildeboer) Leemhuis. He attended Central Elementary School and Middle School, and graduated from Brookings High School in 2001. He attended Lake Area Vocational-Technical School in Watertown for two years. He began working for Waltz Construction in Brookings in 2003. Talus enjoyed motorcycling, hunting, fishing, his Ford Mustang GT, bar stool racing, and attending black powder rendezvous. He enjoyed his dogs and other animals, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his parents: Stephen and Jolene Leemhuis, of Brookings, South Dakota; two sisters: Tonia (Brian) Aker and Tammy Leemhuis, both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandparents: Vincent and Gertrude Leemhuis of Estelline, South Dakota, and Florence Wildeboer, of Bemis, South Dakota; a special friend, Erica Cobb, of Worthington, Minnesota; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Wildeboer; a nephew, Zack Leemhuis; two uncles, Dave Leemhuis and Raymond Maine; and three cousins.
