Stanley E. Schlotman, age 79, of Brookings, died Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Brookings Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 17 2010, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Sunday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.
Stanley Emerson Schlotman was born March 23, 1931, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to Paul and Marie (Petersen) Schlotman. He attended country school in Harrison County and graduated from Onawa High School in 1949. He worked on the family farm until serving in the Army in Germany from 1953 until 1955. He held jobs at International Harvester Company and Sexauer Elevator in Brookings until starting his dairy farm.
Stanley married Lavada Eberlein on August 11, 1957, in Brookings. They began farming near Brookings in 1959. They moved to a farm west of Volga in 1968 and retired in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Lavada Schlotman, of Brookings; four children: Kevin Schlotman of Brookings, Keith Schlotman of Brookings, Karl (Sheri) Schlotman of Brandon, and Beverly (Trevor) Fuss of West Fargo, ND; six grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters: Agnes Perrick of Ft. Collins, CO, Glen (Linda) Schlotman of Kingsley, IA, John (Janice) Schlotman of Hornick, IA, Earl (Janice) Schlotman of Farmington, MN, Wayne (Diane) Schlotman of Bronson, IA, Frances (Duane) Edelman of Farmington, MN, and Sam (Linda) Schlotman of Bronson, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Ahlquist of Sioux City, IA, and Kenneth Deen of Brookings; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Edith Ahlquist and Dorothy Deen.
