Stanley Spinner Krumm, age 79, of Volga, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at the Brookings Hospital Emergency Room. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Lake Campbell Lutheran Church in rural Volga, with interment in First Lutheran Cemetery in Volga. Visitations will be from 4-7 P.M. Friday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga.
Stanley LeRoy Krumm was born December 20, 1930, on the family homestead in rural Volga, South Dakota, to Floyd and Mary (Pedersen) Krumm. He grew up in Volga and attended country School District #51. In 1951 he enlisted in the navy and was discharged in 1954. December 23, 1956, he married Gloria Heldt at Pipestone, Minnesota. While continuing to reside in Volga and raise a family, Stanley farmed for five years, worked as a janitor, as well as drove truck for 32 years for Land O Lakes where he earned the Safe Driving Award for having no accidents in those 32 years.
Stanley was a member of First Lutheran Church of Volga for several years, later joining the Lake Campbell Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Burrows-Young American Legion Post No. 114. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, yard work, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Krumm, of Volga; six children: Sheila (Richard) Ohlsen of Brookings, South Dakota, Deb Petersen also of Brookings, Ronald Krumm of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jon (Nancy) Krumm of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Rolland Krumm also of Aberdeen, and Jerome (Tammie) Krumm of Rapid City, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister
Beverly Nelson of Badger, South Dakota ; and two brothers: Melvin (Delores) Krumm of Volga and Donald (Joyce) Krumm of Bruce, South Dakota; and sister-in-law, Beverly (Gerald) Bjerke of Brookings. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Rud; a brother, Chuck Krumm; and two nephews, Kevin and Richard Krumm.
