Sidney Allen Post, age 72, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Avantara Nursing Home in Lake Norden, SD. Visitation will be 2-4 P.M. Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga with a Prayer Service at 4:00 P.M. Burial will be in Marshfield, Wisconsin at a later date.
Sid was born December 20, 1946, in Volga, SD. He attended Volga Christian and Volga High School. After high school, Sid worked for SDSU Dairy, Oines Implement, and local farmers.
On August 4, 1967, Sid married Shirley Burgers and moved near Colton, SD. After a short time farming, Sid started his trucking career which eventually relocated him to the Marshfield, Wisconsin area. He worked in the trucking industry most of his life, where he received numerous awards for safe driving and reliable performance.
Sid had a passion for horses, especially draft horses. He drove hitches in many parades in Chicago and Milwaukee. Sid enjoyed helping others learn the techniques of driving multiple team hitches.
Survivors include his daughter, Shana Skortz; grandson, Trevor Skortz; granddaughter, Bianca Skortz; two great-grandchildren, Taelor and Travis Skortz all of Wisconsin; eight siblings, Betty (James) Halde of Sioux Falls, Marvin (Joyce) Post of Volga, Sylvia Misar of Oldham, Robert Post of Ramona, Joan (Robert) Olson of Sinai, Carol (Greg) Bolstad of Sinai, Dave (Mary) Post of Volga, and Dennis (Kerry) Post of Sinai; brother-in-law, Marvin Burgers; sister-in-law, Marlene (Jim) Knox, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Cora Post; his wife, Shirley; his in-laws, Hank (Tena) Burgers; and his sister-in-law, Debra Post.
