Sheryl Ann Brown, age 59, of White, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis after a 6 year battle with severe illness. She was being visited and comforted by her husband and daughters until the time of her passing. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in White, with interment in Fairview Cemetery. Visitations will be at the church from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in White.
Sheryl Ann Brown was born on July 22, 1957 to Arthur and Helen Graslie in Sioux Falls, SD. She was the oldest of 5 children. She graduated from Deubrook High School in 1975 and attended Nettleton Business College. She worked at various positions before she became City Finance Officer in White where she worked for 22 years. She enjoyed being involved in the community and serving through the American Legion Auxiliary, Zion Lutheran Church, Historical Society, Girl Scouts, Jaycee's, Municipal League, and many other organizations.
In 1999, she married Randy Brown at Zion Lutheran Church in White. They spent their married years doing many of things Sheryl enjoyed, including fishing, camping, and golfing. Sheryl loved music and gardening-two hobbies she shared with her father. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and her most treasured times were those spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Sheryl always carried her faith with her and believed in the power of prayer. Anyone who met her will remember her as a fighter, a legacy that her family will always hold on to.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Hellen Graslie. She is survived by her husband, Randy Brown of White; son, Nathan Brown of Riverside, IA; daughter, Jonna Quail of White; daughter, Morgan Brown of Brookings; 6 grandchildren; 3 sisters: Nancy Thompson of Brookings; Janice Collett of White; Joan (Shannon) Crooks of Astoria; 1 brother, Brian (Kris) Graslie of Brookings; 7 nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends.
