Sharon Zelenka, age 63, of 423 15 ^th St. So. Main, Brookings, (formerly from Vivian), passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Brookview Manor, after a long illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Eidsness Funeral Home one hour prior to the funeral service.
Sharon Rae (Wright) Zelenka was born January 2, 1946, to Charles & Esther (Farmer) Wright, in Eureka, California. In 1969 Sharon married Lawrence Zelenka, and they lived west of Fort Pierre. After Lawrence pass away, Sharon & her stepson Donnie Zelenka lived in the Vivian area for the next 20 years and in the Brookings area for the last 8 years.
Sharon was a very loving and helpful person, and enjoyed having children around. She and Donnie enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and always had numerous pets around for their family's enjoyment.
Survivors include her stepson, Donnie Zelenka, Brookings; her daughters, Sheila(Bruce) Scotting of Alcester, Valerie Stanga (Jeff Carter), Brookings, and 4 grandchildren; her mother, Esther Chaplin, Huron; her special Dad, Pete Kiehn, Brookings; her sisters, Pat (Russ) Hotchkiss, Barb (Mike) Bauer, both of Huron; her brothers, Charles Wright, Utah; Ron (Karen) Chaplin, Yankton; Don (Diane) Herman, Watertown; her sister-in-law, Andre` Wright, Yankton; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence in 1978; her brother, Dennis Wright; her step-father, Richard Chaplin; and her sister-in-law, Connie Wright.
