Sara
Watters
November 4, 1980 – April 26, 2026
Sara Watters, age 45, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at her home in Brookings, South Dakota.
A Public Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. A Burial will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings.
Sara was born on November 4, 1980, to Gary Watters and Linda Watters in La Junta, Colorado. She spent her early years in Colorado before moving with her family to Brookings in 1989, where she would grow up and make her home for many years.
From a young age, Sara was known as a sensitive yet strong spirit, often described as a “wild child” with a heart that felt deeply and a personality that could not be ignored. She had a unique way of expressing herself and lived life with a sense of individuality and determination. Sara attended Brookings High School, graduating with her GED. Following high school, Sara travailed the country exploring many states. She began working at Weather Star with her father, then 3M, and finally ending at Casey’s General Store; where she enjoyed staying busy and connecting with those around her.
Sara found joy in the simple things in life. She loved music and could often be found listening to her favorite songs. She also enjoyed reading, crafting, and scrapbooking—creating keepsakes and projects that reflected her creativity and attention to detail. Above all else, Sara cherished her dog, Six, who brought her companionship, comfort, and unconditional love.
Sara will be remembered for her caring heart, her strength, and the love she had for her family. Her memory will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Sara is survived by her parents, Gary and Linda Watters; her siblings, Andrew Watters and Melissa (Watters) Meyer; and her two beloved nieces, Annika and Elise, who brought her much pride and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Amber Nicole; her infant brother, Brandon Lee; her husband, Joshua Stuart; and her grandparents.
