Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" Sue Wilkins (nèe Lewis) of Brookings, South Dakota died peacefully at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Friday, June 30, 2017. She is preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Stephen Wilkins (Redfield, South Dakota) and her parents, Ralph and Ruth Lewis (Weedville, Pennsylvania). She is survived by her four siblings, Geraldine (Dave) Frey, Gary (Lois) Lewis, Carol (Mike) Simpson, and Don (Pam) Lewis, as well as her three beloved children, Stephen (Tricia) Wilkins, Shane Wilkins, and Staci Wilkins, and her six grandchildren, Brittney, Riley, Taylor, Ezekiel "Zeke", Anthony, and Sophia, the sources of her pride and joy.

Sandy was born and grew up in Weedville, Pennsylvania, where she met the love of her life, Reverend Stephen Wilkins; they were married on August 22, 1970 until the Lord called her husband home in 2006. Sandy was a caring woman with a big heart and a passionate love of the Lord. She was renowned for her beautiful smile and had a cheerful, engaging laugh that drew others to her. When she wasn't doting on her grandkids, she was busy trying out new recipes for her children or serving at her church. Much of her time was spent tending to her garden or feeding the birds who would venture onto her patio.
