Ruth Scearce Tucker Agee, age 99, died Monday, January 1, 2007, at Stoneybrook Suites in Brookings, South Dakota. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 5, at Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings. Visitations will be from 4-6 P.M. Thursday at Eidsness Funeral Home. Ruth Scearce was born October 1, 1907, at Finchville, Kentucky, to Leonard and Lillie (Doyle) Scearce. She received her education at Finchville grade and high school, Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky, and Bryan & Stratton Business College in Louisville, Kentucky. On December 27, 1927, Ruth married William Lee Tucker. They had one child, William Lee Tucker Jr., born January 18, 1930. Mr. Tucker died in February 1933. Ruth married Jesse Agee in 1952. Survivors include her son, William Lee (Doris) Tucker Jr., of Brookings; two granddaughters: Elizabeth (Mark) Van Horn of Gibsonville, North Carolina, and Lucinda (Ira) DeBough of Brookings; a grandson, William Lee (Sarah) Tucker III, of Brookings; and two great-grandsons: Michael DeBough and James DeBough. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a sister, Anna Mae Connor; and a brother, Orville Scearce.
