Obituary

Ruth V. Quail, age 88, of Sinai, died Monday, October 3, 2011, at Brookview Manor in Brookings. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 7, 2011, at Sinai Lutheran Church in Sinai, with interment in the West Sinai Lutheran Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4:30 to 6:30 P.M. Thursday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Ruth Virginia Quail was born February 21, 1923, on the family farm near Sinai, South Dakota, to Elmer and Clara (Hillestad) Quail. She attended country school and graduated from Sinai High School. She attended General Beadle College in Madison and SDSU in Brookings. She taught in country schools until the Fall of 1960 when she began working at the Sinai State Bank. She retired from the bank in 1988. Ruth was a member of Sinai Lutheran Church and was active in church circles. She was a member of Sons of Norway and an old car club. She enjoyed dogs, flower gardening, knitting, crocheting, and travel, including a trip to Norway in 1985. Survivors include a sister, Velma Lilley, of Denver, Colorado; a nephew, Kevin (Laura) Quail; nieces, Lorinda (Dan) Sasche and Kim (Clark) Rogness; and foster nephews, Mike (Kris) Zobel and David (Jackie) Pearson; great-grandnieces and nephews: Lucas and Lacey Quail, Leah, Cory, and Craig Rogness, Natalie Sasche, Ryan, Nicki, and Matt Zobel, and Mike and Melissa Pearson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Quail; a nephew, Mike Lilley; and a niece, Misty Hayes.
