Ruth Ann Lucas, 82, of White, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, surrounded by her family.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Funeral services will follow on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Ruth Ann Lucas was born on April 10, 1944, in Watertown, South Dakota, Leo and Evelyn (Johnson) Rennich. She married Richard Lucas on September 18th,1962. They moved to Sioux Falls for a brief time and then moved back to the White area. Ruth lived a life marked by devotion, quiet strength, and a generous spirit.

Ruth loved the rhythms of life on her farm—working on projects, driving her golf cart, baking and cooking for her family, and tending her garden. She also gave her time to Meals on Wheels, serving others with the same kindness she showed at home.

A dedicated learner, Ruth earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in 1997 and later retired from 3M after 29 years of service. She was a faithful member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Brookings, where her compassion and steady presence touched many.

Ruth is survived by her four daughters: Carie Knutson of Toronto, SD; Anita Moore (Sean) of Plymouth, MN; Patty Lee of Colman, SD; and Renee Rumpza (Jason) of Brookings, SD. Ruth was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and great‑grandmother of nine great‑grandchildren. One brother, Raymond Rennich (Judy). She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Lucas; her siblings, Marilyn, and Marlyn; and her son‑in‑law, Brad Knutson.

Ruth’s family invites all who knew her to honor a life lived with grace, humility, and unwavering love.
