Ruth E Liebing, age 93, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018. The memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, with burial to follow the ceremony at Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings.

Ruth was born January 9, 1925, in Bristol, SD. She moved to Brookings at the age of two, and grew up in Brookings. She graduated from Brookings High School in 1943. Ruth held many jobs throughout her life, one of them landing her in Milbank, SD, where she met her husband Orval, while working at the Milbank Telephone Company. Together, they farmed in the Milbank area and had three sons, Terry, Dan, and Mark.   They moved back to Brookings shortly after.

Orval and Ruth started Dakota Windshield. Together, they owned many different businesses and properties throughout Brookings including the Corral Drive-In. They owned the business until its closing. She and her husband moved to Mesa, Arizona and continued to own property in that area until Orval's death from cancer in 1979. She moved back to Brookings and enjoyed being a member of bridge clubs, a doll club, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Women's Elks Club. Ruth loved to go antiquing in the area. She always enjoyed decorating for the holidays and baking for her family. In the past few years, Ruth enjoyed the company of her family.

Survivors include her sons, Dan of Huron and Mark (Amy) of Brookings; daughter-in-law Marla, of Brookings; her grandchildren, Carrie (Brian) Englund, Kristie, Tara, Morgan, Lauren, Taylor, and Samantha; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Emma (Carlsen) Braley; father and mother-in-law Louis and Ella (Krueger) Liebing; two sisters, Arlene (Bittner) and Lovain Braley; four brothers, Milford, Virgil, Dennis, and Duane; her niece, Mary-Ann Dickerson; her husband, Orval; and her eldest son, Terry.
