Ruby I. Fulmer Kroeger, 93, of Owatonna, Minnesota, formerly of Elkton, South Dakota, died Monday, October 11, 2004 at Cedarview Nursing Home in Owatonna. She was born January 29, 1911 in Oslo Township, Brookings County, South Dakota, the daughter of Tom and Mary (Lund) Elverud. Ruby married Harold Fulmer on March 21, 1931 in Volga, SD. Ruby worked alongside her husband on the farm until 1950, when they purchased the Fulmer Station in Elkton. The couple owned and operated the station until Harold's death in 1969. Ruby went to work at the Elkton Post Office until her retirement. She married Vernon Kroeger on Feb. 14, 1971 in Elkton. Vernon died August 6, 1994. Ruby spent her spare time as a seamstress, crocheting, dancing to oldies music, cooking, baking and having coffee at Realife. Ruby's biggest love of all was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters: Roma Steffen and husband, William of Braham, Minnesota, Evalu Bain Kasper and husband, Mark of Owatonna, Maria Andersen and husband, Dennis of Owatonna; step-son, Lyle Kroeger and wife, Kathy of Savage, Minnesota; step-daughter, Elizabeth Kroeger of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; two brothers: Lloyd (Goldie) Elverud of Volga, South Dakota, and Morris Elverud of Cornellis, Oregon; a sister-in-law, Clarice Elverud of Volga, South Dakota; a brother-in-law, George Leslie of Brookings, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Harold and Vernon; a sister, Mae; two brothers, Emil and Harry; an infant daughter, Joann; a step-daughter, Arlene; a grandson, Jay; and a son-in-law, Chuck. Visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna, Minnesota, on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, from 5-8PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the United Parish in Elkton, South Dakota at 2:00PM with visitation one hour before the service at the church. The Reverend Daren Junker will be officiating. Burial will be in the Colman Cemetery in Colman, South Dakota.
