Rosella A. Thompson, age 71, of Brookings, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020, at the Brookings Hospital. Visitations will be 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Eidsness Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Pioneer Lutheran Church rural White, SD, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rosella A. Thompson was born on January 22, 1949, in Brookings, SD, the daughter of Edwin and Evelyn (Hillerud) Schlobohm. Rose was raised by her mother and step-father, Laurence Egeberg. She received her education in Volga, SD, and was a graduate of the Sioux Valley High School in 1967. Rose was united in marriage to David L. Thompson on March 3, 1990, at the Pioneer Lutheran Church in White, SD. She was employed for over 35 years at various businesses including Wong's Rainbow Café, the Starolite Inn, and most recently retiring in 2004 from SDSU as custodial supervisor.

Rose is a member of the Pioneer Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed collecting antiques.  She especially enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband David L. Thompson of Brookings, SD; one daughter, Roxanne Ulness of Brookings, SD; two brothers, Donald (Sandi) Schlobohm of Washington and Orlyn (Bev) Olson of Minnesota; two sisters, Helen Peters of Minneapolis, MN, and Kathy (Rod) Poppe of Brookings, SD; and special friend, Don Keylon.

Rose was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Schlobohm; her mother and step-father, Evelyn and Laurence Egeberg; and her son, James Barton.
