Rose Selleck, 89, of Brookings, formerly of White, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the White United Methodist Church in White at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in White. A meal and time of fellowship at the church will follow interment. Visitation will be held the evening prior, Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the White United Methodist Church from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the Selleck family with arrangements.
Rose Doris Trulock was born on September 12, 1934, on the farm in Hendricks Township in Brookings County. She was the tenth child born to William and Clara (Jennings) Trulock.
In 1935, Rose's father was killed in a tractor accident. She moved with her mother and siblings to a place near White, and later into the town of White. She received her education at the White Public School.
Rose married Donald Selleck on July 27, 1951, at Lake Benton, MN. They farmed in the Oak Lake and Sherman townships. In 2008, Don entered into the White Care Center and Rose moved to the Country View apartments in White in 2009. In 2012, Rose moved to Edgewood Vista Assisted Living in Brookings.
Rose was a member of the White United Methodist Church in which she was very active. She taught Sunday School and Bible School for several years.
Rose greatly enjoyed doing things with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed going to their programs and sporting events. She also enjoyed gardening, baking, reading, walking, and fishing.
Rose is survived by her children: Deanna (Dean) Larson-Knutson of Marshall, MN, Peggy (Darald) Bauman of Gary, SD, Charles (Cheri) Selleck of White, SD, Julie (Mike) Petersen of White, SD, and Donald (Renae) Selleck Jr. of Brookings, SD; nineteen grandchildren: Michael, Jeremy, Jeff, Jamie, Sara, Corey, Scott, Kayla, Leah, Olivia, Hope, Abbey, Jackson, Austin, Mandi, Monica, Jonathan, Kirby, and Heather; 25 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Irene Trulock, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald; her parents; five sisters: Dora, Violet, Daisy, Ivy, and Ada; four brothers: infant William, Ralph, James, and William; and son-in-law Steve Larson.
