Ron Sorensen, age 64, of Brookings, died Sunday, September 19, 2004, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 23, 2004, at First United Methodist Church in Brookings, with interment at the Colman Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 P.M. Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Ronald C. Sorensen was born June 12, 1940, in Lake County, South Dakota, to Elmo and Belva (Jensen) Sorensen. He attended all twelve grades at Colman, and was named honorable mention in All-State Football. On November 15, 1968, he married Betty Boterman in Sioux Falls. Ron worked as the supervisor of the blacktop crew for Wyland Construction of Dell Rapids for 25 years. In 1991, he became the street superintendent for the City of Brookings, retiring in 2002. He was currently working part-time for A & M Sealcoating. Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing horseshoes, dancing, attending auction sales, collecting antiques, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He loved small animals and pets, and visited easily with everyone he met. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brookings. Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Brookings; a son, Brian (Maureen) Buller, of Sioux Falls; two daughters: WaNita Sorensen of West Point, Utah, and Ronda (Alan) Roemen of Tea, South Dakota; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Sharlene Price, of Irvine, California. He was preceded in death by his parents.
