Robert Gruseth, age 65, longtime Volga resident, died on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society of Lennox after an eight year battle with Alzheimer's disease. . Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Lake Campbell Lutheran Church. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Interment will be at Volga in First Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Robert John Gruseth was born on November 29, 1948 to Clarence and Esther (Trygstad) Gruseth in Volga, South Dakota. He attended District #77 rural grade school, and graduated from Sioux Valley High School at Volga, South Dakota in 1967. Bob married Sue (Susan) Doren on December 30, 1971, and they made their home in Volga for thirty-five years, before moving to Brookings and later to Sioux Falls. He was employed as a machine operator at 3M for 33 years before being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, clock making, wood working, and most of all, socializing. Bob is survived by his wife Sue (Susan); daughter, Jennica (Mike) Johnson; son, Joshua Gruseth; granddaughters, Akasha Winker and Shayla Johnson; brother, Lawrence Gruseth (Sandi) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
