Richard W. Dick Thompson, age 75, of Brookings, died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Brookview Manor in Brookings. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the Holy Life Tabernacle in Brookings, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Richard Wayne Thompson was born August 18, 1933, at Ada, Minnesota, to Fred and Blanche (Bang) Thompson. He attended public school in Ada and later in Moorhead, Minnesota. The family moved to Brookings in 1957 where Dick worked many years with his father and brothers in the construction business. He spent a number of years as a school crossing guardhe loved the kids and the kids loved him. He also worked for the State Theater Company. His retirement years were dedicated to his church, his Bible study group, and going out for coffee with friends. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, bike riding, and spectator sports. Survivors include a sister, Shirley Green, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; a brother, Chuck (Lois) Thompson, of Sun City West, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Gloria Thompson of West Palm Beach, Florida; and ten nieces and nephews whom he thought the world of. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Thompson.
