Richard J. Martin, age 72, of the White Healthcare Center, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Fairview Cemetery in White, with a memorial service following at 10:30 A.M. at the White Healthcare Center. Richard Julian Martin was born December 23, 1934, at Ft. Smith, Arkansas, to Robert Julian and Bessie Marie (White) Martin. He served in the Arkansas Air National Guard from 1953 until 1956, and the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserve. He worked in various occupations, primarily in Arkansas, before moving to South Dakota. He moved to the White Healthcare Center in 2001, where he was appreciated as a helpful, caring person by the staff and other residents. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching television, and playing games.
