Richard worked the farm with his father and met the love of his life, Shirley Huls. On June 16, 1968, they were married for 55 years and lived on the Kor farm until 2016. He received his Historical Boiler Engineer License from Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion (WMSTR), 2010 in Rollag, MN. Richard was an active member in the WMSTR Annual Threshing Bee Reunion each Labor Day Weekend for approximately ten years where he worked on the Mary Sue Steam Shovel as the Boiler Attendant.
Richard loved: giving rides in the airplanes, working with his hands in the shop, welding, machining, reading, dancing, traveling, sewing, and quilting. Richard collected many older sewing machines and guns.
