Richard A. Dick Larson, age 72, of Brookings, South Dakota, died Thursday, December 13, 2007, at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 17, 2007, at Bethel Baptist Church in Brookings, with interment in the West Sinai Lutheran Cemetery at Sinai, South Dakota. Visitations will be from 4-7 P.M. Sunday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Dick was born August 8, 1935, in Volga, South Dakota, to ONeall and Pearl (Skattum) Larson. He grew up in the Volga-Sinai area and attended Oslo District No. 95. He graduated from Volga High School in 1953. Dick retired from Northwestern Energy in 2000, having served in Brookings, Redfield, and Madison. He served in the South Dakota National Guard, and was a 45-year member of the BPO Elks Lodge No.1490 in Brookings. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and golfing (member of the hole-in-one club). Dick married Elaine Christensen Tarrell on September 2, 2004. She survives, as do one daughter, Lynnea (David) Bradbury of Issaquah, Washington; one son, Brent Larson (Joseph Driste) of San Francisco, California; daughter-in-law, Victoria Larson of Brookings, South Dakota; grandchildren: Sean and Kenneth Larson of Brookings, Andrea Lovell of St. Cloud, Minnesota; step-daughter, Jeanne (Bill) Reich of Hampshire, Illinois; stepson, Steven Tarrell of Port Orange, Florida; step-grandchildren: Anna and Allix Reich, Tony Tarrell, John (Shelley) Bradbury, Leah (Ken) Morrell, Tom Bradbury, and four step-great-grandchildren, all of Plano, Texas; a sister, Joann (Richard) Reents of Shoreview, Minnesota; a brother-in-law, Derald (Priscilla) Christensen of Bruce, South Dakota; nieces; nephews; cousins; and two uncles. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas; his parents; two brothers, Maynard and Orvall; and two wives.
