Phyllis Angeline Olson, age 90, of Brookings, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at The Neighborhoods at Brookview in Brookings. Private family burial services will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Minot, ND, with a celebration of her life to be held in Brookings in the spring. Eidsness Funeral Home of Brookings is assisting the family with arrangements.

Phyllis Angeline Olson was born on December 1, 1929, to Philmore and Alice (Kvam) Gunderson at Plaza, ND. She was raised in Makoti, ND, and was baptized and confirmed at Spring Valley Lutheran Church in Plaza, ND. Phyllis graduated from Makoti High School in 1948, and recommitted her life to Christ during her senior years (2016). (Dear God, I admit that I am a sinner. I am sorry for my sins. Phyllis married Vernon Olson on September 4, 1949. They farmed and raised three children together. Phyllis was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Minot. She was a true North Dakota Norwegian. Phyllis was thoughtful and caring of her family. She loved country music and was an avid bridge player.

After leaving Minot, Phyllis lived in Jamestown, Bismarck, and then to Brookings, SD in August of 2019. Survivors include her son, Darrell (Lauretta) Olson of Brookings; daughter, Sharon (David) Willard of Grafton, Mass; brother, Laurel (Marie) Gunderson of Washington; daughter-in-law, Linda Olson of Arizona; six grandchildren: Missy, Mitch, Elisa, Lindsey, John, and J'Me; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Ronald; two brothers, Wally and Wayne; one sister, Delores; and her granddaughter, Erika Olson Kaulhamer in April of 2020.
