Philip Eggers, age 40, of Brookings, died on Monday July 28, 2014. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Brookings. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, August 1, 2014, at Eidsness Funeral Home. Philip was born on March 31, 1974, in Albert Lea, MN to Bud and Peggy (Christie) Eggers. The family later moved to Philip, SD where he grew up and attended school. Philip graduated from Philip High School in 1992, andlater graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management from SDSU. Philip moved to Colorado and worked as a Construction Superintendent for the Mesa State University's athletic complex addition. He later moved to Sioux Falls and then to Brookings where he was employed with Midwest Glass. Philip was an extremely generous man, always willing to help out with a project. He loved his family and truly enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Philip was always up for a competitive game of chess, monopoly or dice. He was a "tough guy" with a very gentle soul. Philip was a member of the Veritas Church in Brookings. He was a deeply spiritual person and will be missed by all who knew him. Philip is survived by his parents; Bud (Peggy) Eggers; siblings, Joshua (Mindy) Eggers, Olive and Stein; Rebekah (Nick) Scott, Gus, Iversyn and Rozelyn; and Sarah (Kirk) Jensen; grandmothers, Elizabeth (Gene) Christie, and Pauline Eggers; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
