Peter A. Lengkeek, age 82, formerly of Volga, died Thursday, September 1, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, September 5, 2005, at the Volga Christian Reformed Church, with interment in Trinity Cemetery. Visitations will be from 2-4 P.M. Sunday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. Peter Arie Lengkeek was born April 1, 1923, on the farm near Volga, South Dakota, to Kryn and Gertie (Meyer) Lengkeek. He was baptized and made profession of faith at the Volga Christian Reformed Church. He attended school near Volga and then began working on a farm. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. On June 19, 1946, he married Willie Van Beek at Volga. They farmed for 25 years, and moved to Spearfish in 1971. Pete worked for the Black Hills Passion Play for twelve years and was employed by Ladsen Trucking until his retirement. Willie died January 29, 1983. Pete loved working with animals, especially horses. He enjoyed attending livestock auctions and having coffee with his buddies. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Spearfish, and was grateful for the fellowship of his church family. Survivors include his four children: Dennis (Shirley) Lengkeek of Burke, South Dakota, Sylvia (Jim) Eekhoff of Hull, Iowa, Bonnie Lengkeek of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Rose (Steve) Fear of Everly, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters: Johanna and Hilda Lengkeek of Volga, and Magdalena IntVeld of Bruce, South Dakota; a sister-in-law, Irene Lengkeek, of Volga; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends in Volga and Spearfish. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Henry and Gerrit; and a sister, Gertrude.
