Pauline was born on April 1, 1927, to Paul and Elizabeth (Vande Voorde) Turley in Ogallala, Nebraska. She grew up in Ogallala, eventually moving to San Diego where she graduated from Cathedral Girl's High School. On February 8, 1948, Pauline was united in marriage to Howard Eggers in San Diego, California.
While she lived in Ogallala, Pauline worked at JC Penney; and she also worked as a loan teller for Bank of America in National City, California. Eventually Pauline found herself moving back to South Dakota, settling on a farm in Philip, where she worked as a rural columnist for the local Philip newspaper. The couple retired from farming and moved to Brookings in 2002.
Pauline was very active within her community as a member of the First United Methodist Church in Philip. She was the church secretary for over 15 years and worked on United Methodist teaching curriculum for 10 years. Pauline was also involved with the CARE Group with the United Methodist Women. When they moved to Brookings, Pauline was also involved with the Bridge Club and the Brookings County Extension Club. At the time of her passing, Pauline was a member of the Pius XII Newman Center.
Pauline had many interests throughout her life, including sewing quilt tops, playing pinochle and bridge, square dancing, and bowling. She was extremely generous with her time and love. Pauline and Howard were very proud that they were able to support all five of their children in their college educations.
Survivors include her children; Howard "Bud" (Peggy) Eggers of Volga, David (Twila) Eggers of Brookings, Sandra (Craig) Studer of Lilburn, GA, Mark (Katherine) Eggers of Bloomington, MN, and Kenneth (Lisa) Eggers of St. Paul, MN; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Miller; one brother, Gerald (Bernadine) Turley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Rose Dale, and Virginia; brothers, Eugene, Donald, and Paul; granddaughter, Crystal Elizabeth Eggers; grandson, Philip Craig Eggers; and great-granddaughter, Maria Louise Haber.
