Obituary

Paul Charles Swift, age 77, of Brookings, passed unexpectedly into the presence of his Savior on Monday, November 9, 2020. Memorial services will be at Bible Baptist Church in Brookings on Saturday, November 28th at 10:30 am. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 am that same morning.  Paul's funeral will be live-streamed on the Eidsness Funeral Home website under Paul's obituary.

Paul was born November 27, 1942, to Harlon and Velma (Evans) Swift. He spent most of his childhood in Iowa until the sixth grade when his family moved to South Dakota. In 1961, he graduated from Elkton High School where he was a member of the football, basketball, and track teams. After graduation, Paul attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, MN.

Paul faithfully served in the United States Army from 1964-1966. During his years in the service, Paul earned the Sharp Shooter Medal and the Good Conduct Award. After his honorable discharge, Paul attended South Dakota State University and earned his bachelor's degree in economics. Paul went to work for First National Bank (First Bank and Trust) in 1971. He valued the relationships he built with clients and colleagues at the bank. Paul retired from the bank after 38 years of service.

Paul spent many days hunting and fishing with friends and family. Other pastimes included reading, shooting, and biking riding. Paul was a fun-loving grandfather spending much of his time traveling with his grandchildren, attending their sporting events, and telling them stories which they loved.

His unwavering faith in Jesus Christ is what Paul will long be remembered for. He led all three of his children to a saving knowledge of Jesus and was a role model to his grandchildren. Paul was known for his ease in frequent conversation, trustworthiness, loyal friendship, and devotion as a father and grandfather.

Paul will be missed by his children, Tonya (Jeff) Scott of Maple Grove, MN; Troy (Kim) Swift of Sioux Falls; and Tandi Swift of Plymouth, MN; brothers, David (Susan) Swift, and John (Linda) Swift both of Colorado Springs, CO; his grandchildren, Tanner Scott of Minneapolis; Taylie Scott of California; and Sierra, Jaxsyn, and Shayda Swift of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Mark Swift, and his parents.
