Obituary

Patricia Marie Larson, age, 74, died peacefully in her sleep at home with her husband in Brookings, SD on October 25, 2014. Visitations will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brooking, with a wake service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Brookings, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to The Children's Museum of South Dakota. Patricia was born February 19, 1940 in Duluth, Minnesota, to Robert and Marie Jackson. She graduated from Edina High School in Edina, Minnesota, in 1958. She loved playing the flute and marched with her high school band in the Rose Bowl parade. She graduated from the College of St. Benedict with a degree in Elementary Education. She spent her first year teaching in Austin, Minnesota. On June 27, 1964, she married O. Dale Larson. They moved to Brookings shortly after and Patricia spent the next two years teaching at Hillcrest Elementary. She was President of the Larson Foundation and shareholder of Larson Manufacturing Company, Inc. Patricia enjoyed playing Scrabble, bridge, and pinochle; reading and traveling. She was an avid golfer andan amazing cook and baker. Through her church and community work, Patricia was a lifelong advocate for children and enjoyed her position as a founding member of the Children's Museum of South Dakota. Even though she suffered from Parkinson's Disease, Patricia kept her dignity while keeping her family, friends and caregivers laughing with her witty one-liners. Survivors include her husband, Dale, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage, and their three children, Carmelle (Byron) Jackson, Bridget (Sean) Ennevor, and Maree Larson; six grandchildren, Chris, Kia, Chanel and Maya Jackson and Donovan and Mikayla Ennevor; and three siblings, David Jackson, Roberta (Allen) Almendinger and Candy Jackson; and sister-in-law Barbara Challman. She was preceded in death by her parents.
