Pamela Straw of Lake Norden, formerly of Brookings, passed away Thanksgiving Day at the Avantara Lake Norden Nursing Home.  A private burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Pamela was born July 11, 1931, to Windsor A. and Pamela (Powers) of Brookings. She grew up in Brookings, where she was one of four children. Pamela attended Brookings school system through high school. In 1953, Pamela graduated from South Dakota State University with a Bachelor's Degree.

Pamela began her career in 1953 at General Electric and worked there for four years. In 1957, she began working at South Dakota State University. After her time at SDSU, she worked as the senior clerk for U.S. West Communications.

While Pamela was at SDSU she was a member of the Alpha XI Delta Sorority.

Pamela enjoyed making crafts such as knitting and crocheting. She had a passion for reading. Pamela was an animal lover. She also enjoyed watching baseball on TV and working on crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Elaine Straw of Astoria; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings; Howard, James, and Susan.
