Pamela Sowell, age 68, of Brookings, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 3 ^rd at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with burial to follow at First Lutheran Cemetery in Brookings. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Pamela Kay Sowell was born in Volga, SD on February 13, 1954, to Gordon Sr. and Joyce (Carr) Kruse. She was confirmed in the Christian faith on June 2, 1974. Pam was united in marriage to Paul Norman Sowell on November 26, 1980, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, and were blessed with 41 years of married life together. On July 23, 2022, God called Pam home to heaven.

Pam received her education in Brookings. As a child, she enjoyed spending time at Lake Poinsett with her family. Pam's uncle Don was a racecar driver and she could often be found cheering him on at the old Brookings Speedway. She was a collector of pictures and figurines of frogs. She loved drawing, attending parades, and helping, visiting with, and eating with friends. For 32 years, Pam worked in the food service area at SDSU. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings.

Pam is survived by her husband, Paul of Brookings, her sisters, Linda Brown of Howard, SD, and Kathy (Randy) Thomson of Bruce, SD, brother-in-law, Bill (Laura) Sowell of McKinney, TX, and sisters-in-law, Charlene (Wayde) Yates of Beaverton, OR, Jane Asmus of Aurora, SD, and Darlene Kruse of Watertown, SD. Pam was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Gordon (Butch) Kruse Jr., her mother and father-in-law, Richard and Ethel Sowell, and her brothers-in-law, Gerald Asmus and Steve Brown.
