Ordell Ann Yonkovich, 77, of Brookings, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2014. She was born in Winthrop, Minnesota, on April 5, 1937, to Ann & August Habeck. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1955 and received a degree in Elementary Education from Mankato State University. She married John F. (Jack) Yonkovich June 21, 1958. She taught elementary school while Jack finished college. Ordell made friends around the world, calling numerous communities home' over the past 60 years. She was proud to call Brookings home, and enjoyed spending winters in Sun City West, Arizona. Ordell enjoyed golfing, traveling, playing mahjongg and having coffee with her friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Ordell is survived by husband Jack, daughter Amy (Darrell) Freese of Lake View, Iowa, sons Matt (Mary) Yonkovich of Brookings, South Dakota, Gregg (SueAnn) Yonkovich of Aberdeen, South Dakota; and 5 grandchildren: AJ, Trevor, Sarah, Rachel and Tucker. A visitation will be held from 4 - 7 PM Sunday at Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, May 12, 2014, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Brookings, SD. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Eidsness Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
