Norma Tandberg, age 88 of Brookings, died Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Brookings Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at St. Thomas More Parish. Burial will be at East Lincoln Cemetery in Amery, Wisconsin at a later date. Visitations will be from 2-4 P.M. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 3:30 P.M. on Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Norma was born on October 29, 1925 to Mathew and Lillian (Keller) Wanken in Redfield, SD. She was raised in rural Rockham, SD and graduated from Redfield High School. Norma married Vernon Tandberg, On May 5, 1948. Norma and Vernon moved to Wisconsin where they operated a dairy farmed together. Norma also worked for Sears and wrote the Goose Lake Community News for the Amery Free Press and the Polk County Ledger. Norma was a member of Our Lady of The Pines Catholic Church in Balsam Lake, WI, Ladies Aid, and most recently St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Brookings. Norma loved to bird watch, complete puzzles, crochet, sew, and play cards and Bingo. She is survived by her daughters, Valerie (Lloyd) Harry of Milltown, WI and Roxanne Tandberg of Brookings, SD; son, Roger Tandberg of Brookings, SD; sister, Dorothy Pollock of Huron, SD; grandchildren: Robert Harry, Sheri Sullivan, Lee Harry, Lynn Rau, Daniel Rau and John Rau and great-grandchildren: Drayken Sullivan and Katie, Holly, Noelle, Jade, Lilly and Braiden Rau. Norma was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
