Norma Law, 95, passed peacefully on September 28th, 2023, at the United Living Community in Brookings, South Dakota.  Visitations will begin at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, with a funeral service to start around11:00 A.M. at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.  A committal service will follow in Naples, SD.

Norma was born to Herman and Nora Lunde Hanson in Madison, South Dakota on October 17th, 1927.  The family moved to a farm near Vienna, South Dakota.  She attended grade school at S.W. Foxton, a county school near the family farm.  Later she graduated from high school in Vienna, South Dakota.  She took courses in Madison, South Dakota, where she received a teacher's certificate.  She taught in the Naples Elementary School.  She served on the school board for many years.  Norma was also an active member of the Naples Lutheran Church.

Norma married James Wayne Law on January 15, 1947.  They remained living in Naples and raised their daughters Judy, Sheryl, Marlene, and Carolyn.  Norma raised a huge garden in the summer and was an avid seamstress.  Her family enjoyed her homemade buns, rolls, and sugar cookies!  Norma worked at Leo's restaurant, Jenkins Nursing Home, and Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown.  Later, she enjoyed working as a Senior Companion.  Wayne and Norma retired in Watertown, South Dakota.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, James "Wayne" Law; parents: Herman and Nora Hanson; parents-in-law: Harry and Lydia Law; her brother, Alwood Hanson, of Mason City, IA; her sister, Margaret Hanson Gammelin Luvaas, of Bradley, SD; her brothers-in-law Carl Gammelin and T.M. (Tolly) Luvaas; her daughter, Judith Ann Law Duerksen; son-in-law, Lloyd Batien; her sisters-in-law and their spouses, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.  Norma was the sole survivor of her generation.

Norma is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Roger Duerksen, Sheryl Law Batien, Kerry and Marlene Law Stuckman, and Jerry and Carolyn Law Stolp; her grandchildren: Heath and Justin, Richard and Mandi, Rachel, Michelle, Joshua and Abby, Robin, Jamie and Matthew.  Wayne and Norma were blessed with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
