Obituary

Nellie M. Krogmann, age 97, of Brookings, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in Union Cemetery at Flandreau. Visitations will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.

Nellie May (Stokes) Krogmann was born June 16, 1918, at Flandreau, South Dakota, to Hugh H. and Mary E. (Chamberlin) Stokes. She was baptized and confirmed at Midway Lutheran Church. She attended country school and graduated from Egan High School in 1936. On August 8, 1936, she married Fritz Krogmann at Egan. They moved to a farm northwest of Brookings in 1942. Fritz died May 30, 1986. Nellie moved into Brookings on October 14, 1988.

Nellie was a member of First Lutheran Church and WELCA, Royal Neighbors, and V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Survivors include five children: Arlyn Krogmann of Brookings, Reva Krogmann of Brookings, Jeanine Krogmann of Omaha, Nebraska, Judean "Judi" Hewitt (Lance MacFarlane) of Sioux Falls, and Mariann (Robert) Kampmann of Brookings; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant son, Curtis Wayne; daughter, Marlys Wulf; a brother, Dale; and two sisters, Myra and Reva.
