Naomi Hanson, age 96, of Brookings, died Thursday, September 6, 2007, at the Brookings Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 10, 2007, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment at First Lutheran Cemetery in Volga. Visitations will precede services at the church on Monday. Viola Naomi (Barron) Hanson was born October 14, 1910, in Ward Township, Moody County, South Dakota, to William James and Ada (Bickford) Barron. In 1918 she moved with her family to a farm south of White. She graduated from White High School in 1930. On June 2, 1937, she married Harry M. Hanson at Brookings. The Hansons farmed south of Volga in Oslo Township until Harrys death on August 6, 1956. Naomi moved to Brookings in 1957. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Survivors include her daughter, Norma (David) Johnson, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four grandchildren: David Johnson (Sara Sulzbach) of Silver Spring, Maryland, Daniel Johnson (Kim Ferguson) of Ithaca, New York, Deborah Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Diana Johnson of Janesville, Wisconsin; two great-granddaughters, Ingrid and Siri Johnson; a sister-in-law, Ramona Barron, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Audrey Lee, of White; and a special great-niece, Kathy McDougall, of Brookings. She was preceded in death by her husband; five brothers: Leslie, Ray, Kenneth, Alton, and Darrel; and three sisters: Verna Seas, and Cora and Georgina Barron.
