Mindert L. "Mike" Zuiderhof, age 86, of Volga, died Friday, February 6, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the Volga Christian Reformed Church, with interment in Trinity Cemetery at Volga. Visitations will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the Volga Christian School. Mindert Lenard "Mike" Zuiderhof was born March 18, 1928, at Colton, South Dakota, to George and Katie (Mars) Zuiderhof. He was the youngest of six children, five boys and one girl who died at birth. He lived in the Colton area with his family. When he was five years old his father died, so his mother raised five boys alone. He attended the Colton Christian Reformed Church where he was baptized and made profession of faith. Mike came to Volga and worked for Bert Volkers and Hank Mans. While working in Volga, he met his future wife, Jute. On January 17, 1950, Mike married Julia "Jute" Mans at the home of her parents in Volga. They moved to Sioux Falls where Mike worked for John Morrell. They moved back to the Volga area and Mike worked for Egbert Meyer. They farmed near Volga and milked cows for 35 years until their farm sale in 1990. After retiring from farming, Mike operated a trucking service. Mike was active in 4-H, school board, church council, and adult fellowship. Jute died February 28, 2005. Survivors include his three children: Ilene Zuiderhof of Sioux Falls, Michael (Louise) Zuiderhof of Brandon, England, and Tim (Michele) Zuiderhof of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren: Wayne (Rhose) Zuiderhof, Maria (Lyle) Boltjes, Jackie Zuiderhof, Kyle Zuiderhof, and Kira Zuiderhof; and three great-grandchildren: Harriet, Grace, and Lee Boltjes. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers: Pete, Albert, Lawrence, and Jim, and a sister, Jessie.
